Fashion - National Christmas Jumper Day
BACK TO BLOGS
It is time. Time to dig to the depths your wardrobe and pull out that oh-so attractive novelty jumper…
Friday the 13th
is National Christmas Jumper Day
. That means that whatever you’re doing; work, home or play, you should be doing it decked with reindeer, Santa faces, elves, snowmen, Christmas trees, fairy lights, crackers and penguins.
As you know, we at TG like charitable causes, and when crimbo time comes around what better way to get into the festive spirit than by donating some dosh to those less fortunate than ourselves. National Christmas Jumper Day is not just an excuse to wear the most wonderfully ridiculous knit you can get your hands on; it is also to raise awareness and money for Save the Children.
Save the children work in 120 countries, fighting for children’s rights and lives and working to help young people reach their potential. With the company slogan "No Child Born to Die," the charity are aiming to raise half a billion pounds by 2015 from voluntary fundraising.
"£1 could pay for nine sachets of oral rehydration treatment for children suffering disease."
As little as £1 could pay for nine sachets of oral rehydration treatment for children suffering disease. A £25 donation, which you can give by buying your Christmas woolly from John Lewis, could provide ‘safe birth kits’ for three women giving birth at home.
If John Lewis prices are a little steep for you (we have all got presents to think of) why not try the Save the Children charity shop down Jeffries Passage in Guildford? You could end up fishing out a nifty little vintage number.
"To start your Christmas jumper fundraising simply text WOOLLY to 70050 to donate £1."
So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to get that horrendously over the top (but obviously brilliant) sweater out of the wardrobe, here it is.
To start your Christmas jumper fundraising simply text WOOLLY to 70050 to donate £1 – at least 99p will go straight to the cause. You could get your colleagues involved and compete for best jumper in the office or even make your own festive pullover - got any tinsel lying around?
